Day 1: Doi Inthanon National Park, Wachirathan Waterfall & Silver Temple

📍 The guide will pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 AM.

A group of travelers posing in front of the majestic Wachirathan Waterfall in Doi Inthanon National Park during a 3-day private Chiang Mai tour by Fant-Asia Travel.

Departure for Doi Inthanon National Park, the highest mountain in Thailand at 2,565 meters. This 1,000 km² national park is a natural paradise, rich with hiking trails, spectacular waterfalls, and two monumental stupas erected in honor of the King and Queen.

Enjoy a guided tour of the two stupas at the mountain summit and their corresponding royal gardens. Take a break to sample local products sold by the Hmong tribal ethnic group. We stop for lunch at the base of the Wachirathan waterfalls, where several small local eateries serve grilled chicken and fish.

After lunch, visit the 80-meter-high Wachirathan waterfall, the highest in the park. The waterfall is visible from two sides: the upper level, reachable via a 20-minute hike, and the lower level, where you can refresh in the natural pools below the cascade. Our final stop of the day is the stunning Silver Temple (Wat Sri Suphan), an architectural masterpiece completely clad in silver. Even the floor is made of enormous carved slabs depicting the constellations.

🚗 After completing the day’s stages, you will be driven back to your hotel.

Day 2: Doi Suthep, City Temples, Tiger Kingdom & Botanic Garden

📍 The guide will pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 AM.

Guided tour of the temple on Mount Suthep, founded in 1386. From the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep terrace, enjoy incredible views of Chiang Mai city. This is a very important temple for Buddhists, preserving remains of Buddha within its central pagoda.

wat suan dok

The journey continues with a visit to the most prestigious temples in the old city. Wat Phra Singh, built in 1345, is the finest example of Lanna architecture and houses the sacred Phra Singh Buddha image. Wat Suan Dok, known as the “Flower Garden Temple,” dates back to the 14th century and is famous for its large number of white chedis containing the ashes of the Chiang Mai Royal Family.

Next, we head to Tiger Kingdom. Here, we will stop for an international buffet lunch on the terrace overlooking the park, widely considered the best in the area (lunch cost not included). After lunch, you will have the optional opportunity to enter the enclosures and take professional photos with the tigers; this activity is optional and can be decided and paid for directly on-site.

In the afternoon, we visit the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. This premier botanical facility features impressive glasshouse complexes where entire ecosystems have been recreated. You can explore the Savanna House with its desert plants, the Tropical Rainforest House that mimics the Amazonian jungle, and specialized greenhouses for carnivorous plants and rare orchids.

The final stop of the day is Bo Sang Handicraft Centre, the famous artisans’ district of Chiang Mai. We will explore various traditional workshops, including the renowned hand-painted paper umbrella factory, ceramic manufacturers, and elegant shops specializing in Thai silk and precious gemstones.

🚗 After completing the day’s stages, you will be driven back to your hotel.

Day 3: Elephant Sanctuary Experience & Hill Tribe Villages

📍 The guide will pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 AM.

Today we head north to the Mae Taeng district, located about 60 km from Chiang Mai. This area is truly magical, as it hosts dozens of specialized elephant sanctuaries nestled in the lush jungle. During the minivan journey, we will pass several of these havens, with the possibility of making brief stops to observe the surroundings.

Upon arrival at the sanctuary, you will enjoy a unique elephant bathing experience. We focus on ethical interaction, allowing you to bond with these majestic creatures in their natural environment. Beyond the bath, various additional activities are available and can be booked directly on-site according to your preferences.

After a lunch break at a local eatery, we dedicate the afternoon to cultural discovery by visiting two distinct tribal communities. First, we visit Baan Tong Luang, an eco-agricultural village that serves as a cultural hub for various hill tribes, including the Karen (Long Neck), Lahu, and Palong, offering a deep insight into their ancient traditions and colorful handicrafts.

Next, we visit the Hmong village of Nong Hoi. Perched on a ridge with stunning mountain views, this village allows us to see the Hmong people’s unique way of life, their traditional architecture, and their mastery in intricate embroidery and silverwork.

🚗 At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
