Northern Thailand Tour 6 days
Northern Thailand Tour 6 days of excursions in 6 different cities of Thailand. The tour departs from Chiang mai and visiting Pai, Mae hong son, Chiang mai, sightseeing and departure to Chiang rai, stopping along the way to Chiang Dao with a visit to the caves. The tour comes to the border with Myanmar (formerly Burma), Golden Triangle and Lao border. A complete journey for those who want to make the most of the days.
1° day: The waterfall Mok Fah
Arrival at Chiang Mai airport with flight from Bangkok, meeting with the Guide and departure to Pai, a small town halfway between Chiang mai and Mae hong son. Through natural scenery especially beautiful waterfalls you will come to Mok Fah. Stroll along a nature trail to admire the panorama.
Lunch in local restaurant.
In the afternoon visit of Baan Saints Chon, a small Chinese village that keeps its traditions intact, then visit the Wat Prathat Maeyen Temple located in the hills, with a wonderful panoramic view over the Valley of Pai.
Arrival at the hotel, accommodation in private rooms. Dinner and overnight stay.
2° day: Rafting at Tham Lod Cave
Breakfast in hotel and departure to Mae hong son. Along the way, stop at the caves of Tham Lod, once home of prehistoric man. A stream flows from the mouth of the cave to the other side of the mountain; a journey to be performed in the raft, the underground stream, you will visit the cave full of stalactites and stalagmites, along its kilometer long. Lunch in a local restaurant in Mae hong son. In the afternoon visit to the Temple of Pra That Doi Khong Mu, located on a hill that dominates the Valley of Mae hong son, and to the ancient temples of Chong Kun and Chong Klang. Walk into the Centre and transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
3° day: Long neck Karen
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the colourful local market, therefore, boat trip along the Pai River to visit the tribe of Cobalt Long neck, the famous “Long neck“.
Lunch at mae hong son resort.
Leaving for chiang mai with a stop at the bridge of World War II and a visit to the Lisu Hill Tribe Village.
Arrival in Chiang mai in the evening. Accommodation in the hotel reserved. Dinner and overnight stay.
4° day: Chiang Mai Temple
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Doi Suthep (1676 m) where is the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, built in 1383 under Kue-Na. Reach the top with a funicular. From the Summit of Doi Suthep is a suggestive panorama across the plains of Chiang Mai.
Visit to Suan Dok Temple and Phra Singh and an orchid nursery.
Lunch in restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit to the artisan village of Sankamphaeng, famous for its silk manufacturers, silver umbrellas greaseproof paper, wood and precious stones.
Return to the hotel. In the evening, departure from the hotel for a dinner with classical dance show. When finished, return to the hotel and overnight stay.
5° day: Elephant Jungle
Buffet breakfast in hotel and departure for the Mae Ping field to observe the elephants who practice at work in the forest of teak.
Excursion into the jungle on the back of an elephant. It continues for Baan Tha Ton, stopping for lunch in a restaurant of the area on the banks of the river Maekok.
Embarking on a motor launch for an unforgettable cruise to Baan Tha Ton at Baan PaTai Maekok River, to observe the life of the local population.
Then, stop at Baan Ya Pa, a village inhabited by three different ethnicities, where you can observe the Customs and traditions of the Akha, Lahu Shi Balah and Cobalt Long Neck Karen, the famous “Giraffe” women. Then you reach Chiang Rai. Accommodation in the hotel reserved. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
6° Day: The Golden Triangle
Buffet breakfast in hotel and departure at 8.00 a.m. for the white Temple, after departure for Maesai, a small town in the far north of Thailand, on Burma border line. Stop at the market place at the entrance of the bridge that leads across the border, where you can shop for interesting articles from Burma and neighbouring areas.
Continuation to the so-called “golden triangle“, famous throughout the world for opium cultivation practiced by the tribes of the area in the thick of the jungle. Visit to the Opium House.
Free lunch. Transfer to Chiang Rai airport in time for the departure of the flight to Bangkok.
